20 blank notecards (5 each of 4 designs) with envelopes in a decorative box and printed on recycled paper. Throughout his career, Claude Francis Barry’s (English, 1883–1970) style was constantly evolving. His early narrative oils gave way to experimentation with pointillism and vorticism, and his etchings won major awards in France and Italy. He refined his use of line and form as he moved toward abstraction. Later in life he reworked images from etchings, creating oil paintings in pure colors from a simplified palette. His passion was always color, and Barry said that color was to painting "what love is in a man's life." The artworks reproduced in this set of scenes from France reflect the intensity of the artist's passion.
