Tino Rodriguez: Masks Boxed Notecards

20 blank notecards (5 each of 4 designs) with envelopes in a decorative box and printed on recycled paper. Immersed from youth in the Mexican oral storytelling tradition, and first exposed to art through the images of saints and angels in Catholic churches, Tino Rodriguez paints works of exuberant passion. His self-referential paintings often intend to challenge established gender roles. He incorporates objects significant to his personal and cultural history, such as veils—a nod to his sister’s first communion veil. In these luscious images, femininity is reclaimed as a trait that can belong to all, and nature, beauty, and fantasy take full form.
